Intellectual Property
YouMe Law Firm provides intellectual property services, including:
Trademarks
We provide services related to trademarks and service marks. In addition to regularly drafting and monitoring applications for registration of trademarks and service marks (including those filed under the Madrid System), lawyers in this Department also coordinate with a network of foreign law firms in handling cases related to trademarks and service marks abroad.
Members of the Department also advise clients on the protectionability of trademarks, on the use and enforcement of industrial property rights in trademarks and brands, and on the research and adjustment of trademark portfolios.
Copyright
We advise clients on a wide range of copyright issues in various fields such as advertising, printed and online publications and computer software, and on broadcasting rights in the radio and television sectors.
YouMe attorneys are active in drafting and filing copyright applications, and regularly advise clients on issues such as “public works” to ensure that their corporate clients own the copyright in works they have commissioned to be created. We also advise clients extensively on Internet-related copyright issues, including issues such as framing, linking and developing websites, and ownership. Members of the Practice also draft corporate email and Internet policies.
Trade Secrets, Know-How, and Confidential Information Protection
We advise clients on ways to protect the confidentiality of their important business information in the day-to-day running of their businesses and in specific transactions such as hiring employees, contracting with third parties, or negotiating sales and purchases in their businesses.
Attorneys are often involved in drafting and reviewing confidentiality agreements, agreements for the sale of business and business assets, employment agreements that include restrictions on the use and disclosure of trade secrets and confidential information, and covenants against competition.
Unfair Competition
We advise on defenses against unfair competition, whether it involves copying product packaging designs or domain name squatting.
Attorneys can provide clients with appropriate and cost-effective actions to prevent such conduct as domain name squatting.
Licensing and Assignments
As part of the firm's practice, attorneys in the Intellectual Property Department regularly handle intellectual property matters (including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters) both in the context of specific intellectual property transactions and in broader business transactions.
Our attorneys are experienced in negotiating, drafting, and analyzing technology transfer and licensing agreements and security agreements. As part of that work, these attorneys have specific legal experience in hardware and software development and licensing agreements, as well as maintenance and support agreements.
These attorneys also advise on corporate and tax issues related to intellectual property transactions.
