Industrial Design Registration
Industrial design is the external appearance of a product expressed by lines, shapes, colors or a combination of these elements.

Protection conditions for industrial designs:
- Being new compared to existing industrial designs, disclosed domestically and internationally;
- Being creative: designing an industrial design is an intellectual labor process, not obvious.
- Being capable of industrial application: can be applied to produce many products bearing the industrial design.
Documents to be provided:
- Application for a Patent for Industrial Design (according to the form).
- A set of photos or a set of drawings of the industrial design:
- The set of photos or drawings must fully demonstrate the nature of the industrial design as described to determine the scope (volume) of protection of that industrial design.
- The photos/drawings must be clear and sharp, and must not be mixed with other products with the product bearing the industrial design for which protection is requested. All photos/drawings of the industrial design must be in the same scale. The size of each photo/drawing must not be smaller than (90 x 120) mm and not larger than (210 x 297) mm.
- The description of the industrial design must fully and clearly present the nature of the industrial design and must be consistent with the set of photos or a set of drawings of the industrial design and include the following contents:
- Name of the product or product part bearing the industrial design;
- The nature of the industrial design, in which it is necessary to clearly state the basic design features of the industrial design requiring protection that are different from similar known industrial designs.
Processing time: 09 - 12 months from the date of filing.
File tracking process
- Within 10 days, you will receive an Industrial Design registration form from the National Office of Intellectual Property stating the application number.
- Within 02 - 03 months, you will receive a notice of acceptance of a valid application from the National Office of Intellectual Property.
- Within 06 - 07 months from the date of acceptance of a valid application, the National Office of Intellectual Property will issue a decision to grant a Certificate of protection for the industrial design.
